Shantahlia Magic is a grey TB mare born 2010 by Diamond Express NZ out of Southern Harbour NZ. Diamond Express is by Success Express (USA) and is ranked 27th Broodmare Sire in NZ by earnings and is placed in the NZ rankings a little ahead of his sire who before being imported into NZ sired progeny who made earnings over US$21million.

Success Express sired the gelding ‘Watkins’ broodmare who started out showjumping with Simon Harrison, was brought up to open showjumping and 3* eventing by Helan Tomkins, before being sold to Zara Phillips who has competed him successfully as her eventing mount. In 2006 Vootrekker also by Success Express came second at the Albury CIC***, then first in the Australian Eventing World Cup.

Southern Harbour is by Touching Wood who also sired Upstage. Upstage is ridden by Karen O’Connor representing USA at the 2006 WEG in Aachen and is presently ranked 15th in the All-Time Leaderboard of eventing horses in the USA, and the 10th ranking Thoroughbred. Touching Wood is also the grandsire of Bold Trader who in 2015 was ranked 168th in the Eventing Horse FEI WBFSH World Ranking List.
