Remi Lion King

We are so excited to introduce “Remi Lion King” our very own Hanoverian stallion! Lion King is a stunning and upstanding 17.2h chestnut, 2011 Australian bred Hanoverian stallion by Lauries As (whose sire is the legendary Londonderry) and out of Remi Waltzing Matilda (by the Grand Prix dressage stallion, Walt Disney I). This gorgeous imported son of the renowned black hanoverian stallion, Lauries As, is set to be a huge asset to the New Zealand warmblood breeders. He exhibits very good conformation, superior character and a fabulous personality.

Remi Lion King already has several very handsome offspring on the ground.

Lion King has competed very successfully in show jumping including at Grand Prix, Show  Hunter, Round the Ring, trained at advanced level dressage and recently the winner at his very first start at eventing in the Canterbury Eventing championships with Giles Gormack.

Lion King is an exceptionally loving and sweet tempered stallion whose talent is endless. We are so excited for the upcoming breeding season and can’t wait to see what the future holds for Lion King and the Amberley House Stud.

Lauries As needs no introduction. He was a Premium Stallion at the German Hanoverian licensing 2004 and after his 30 day performance test went on to qualify for the 5 and 6 year old Bundeschampionates and the World Young Horse Championship. He was purchased at the Elite Auction and exported to Remi Stud in Australia where he became Australia's Advanced Champion in 2010 and multiple Prix St George Champion in 2011.

Remi Lion King's grand-sire, Londonderry, also needs no introduction being the 1997 Licensing Champion as well as becoming the German Riding Horse Champion in Verden, and then winning the Bundeschampionate for 4 year olds in Warendorf. He is also the sire of the 2006 Bundeschampionate winner, Locksley II. Londonderry, who passed away in 2017, was competing successfully at FEI level.

His sire, Lauries Crusader xx, has produced a dynasty in his own lifetime and, in 2006, became the only TB stallion to be awarded the coveted ‘Hanoverian Stallion of the Year’ trophy.

The beautiful State Premium mare Pik Lady is from a very accomplished performance pedigree. She is already dam of 2 successful dressage horses, Rubina S and Rubin S both by Rohdiamant.

Her sire, Pik Bube I is considered one of the most versatile sires in recent German breeding history. He competed very successfully at Grand Prix dressage with Herbert Rehbein.

Pik Lady’s dam, Goldika, produced successful dressage horses, in particular Dac by Donnerhall, who competed successfully at Prix St George level.

Also in the pedigree is the high-class showjumper, Golden Miller, who was successful in showjumping with Albert Riesenbeck. He was winner of the Rastede Grand Prix and the Oldenburg Stallion Championship. Golden Miller went on to produce numerous top showjumpers.

On his damside, Remi Lion King also has top performing bloodlines. He is from the mare Remi Waltzing Matilda, a half-sister to the eventing horse Underdiscussion (formerly Remi Lethal Weapon). Underdiscussion was winner of the CCI 2* at Tattersalls in Ireland and the CICO3* at the World Equestrian Festival at Aachen in 2012.

Remi Waltzing Matilda is by the advanced level champion dressage sire Walt Disney I. He, in turn, is sired by World Cup I - twice Vice Champion DLG stallion and was proclaimed "Hanoverian Stallion" of the year in 1997. Winner of the stallion performance test in 1980, World Cup I went on to become another of Germany's super-sires, his best known progeny being the legendary Weltmeyer.
